Publication Process

The publication process in Orthotomeo: Journal of Scientific Research involves three main parties: authors, editors, and reviewers. Each step follows the workflow arrows in the diagram, beginning with manuscript submission and ending with final publication. The details are as follows:

1. Role of Authors

  1. Initial Submission
Authors begin by uploading the manuscript and supporting documents to the journal’s online submission system. This is the entry point of the article into the editorial workflow.

  2. Manuscript Revision
If the reviewer or editor identifies weaknesses, the author will receive a notification containing revision notes. The author must then revise the manuscript accordingly and re-upload the revised version to the system.

  3. Resubmission
The revised manuscript is resubmitted to be re-evaluated by reviewers until it meets the required quality standards.

2. Role of Editors

  1. Manuscript Reception
Once submitted, the manuscript enters the unassigned menu. The editor checks the completeness of the submission and assigns it to the appropriate section editor.

  2. Reviewer Assignment
The editor selects a qualified reviewer relevant to the topic and forwards the manuscript for review.

  3. Communicating Review Results

    • If the reviewer provides revision notes, the editor sends a notification containing feedback to the author.

    • After the revision is completed and resubmitted, the editor processes the manuscript further.

  4. Final Editing Stage
Once accepted, the manuscript proceeds to the technical editing stage, which includes:

    • Copyediting → refining language, style, and formatting.

    • Layout → adjusting the article to match the journal template.

    • Scheduling → assigning the article to a specific issue and volume.

    • Proofreading → final checks to ensure accuracy and consistency.

  5. Publication Scheduling
The editor sets the official publication date.

  6. Article Publication
After all editing processes are completed, the article is published online on the journal’s website.

3. Role of Reviewers

  1. Article Review
Reviewers read and conduct an in-depth evaluation of the manuscript. The evaluation is accompanied by comments and recommendations.

  2. Review Decision

    • If revision is needed → reviewers provide “revision required” status along with detailed revision notes.

    • If the manuscript is acceptable → reviewers give the “Accept Submission” status.

  3. Review Cycle
If revisions are required, the manuscript is returned to the author → resubmitted → re-examined by reviewers until it is formally accepted.

4. Final Stage

After completing all stages (submission → review → revision → editing → finalization → publication), the article is officially published in Orthotomeo: Journal of Scientific Research and made openly accessible to readers (open access).
